We're thrilled to announce a brand new feature: Website Analytics. This will provide you with valuable insights into how your website is performing.
You'll now see a new section called "Website Analytics" in your left-hand menu. Here, you can enable analytics and access four reports.
Each report will also include a "Download" button, allowing you to export the data. This will provide a zip file containing an Excel spreadsheet for each widget within the report.
How do I turn on Website Analytics?
To turn on Website Analytics, select "Website Analytics" under the "Reporting" section in the left-hand menu:
From here, toggle "MSW Analytics" from Off to On.

On:
Important: Please make sure you press the Save button.
Please allow approximately 48 hours for Google to pick up your new Google Analytics code. After that, you'll start to see analytics show within the available reports below.
What Reports are available?
In line with the NHS guidance, we have four reports:
- Overview: See your total page views.
- Demographics: Understand where your active users are located (by city and country).
- Acquisition & Engagement: Discover your primary traffic sources, such as direct visits and organic search.
- Technology: Find out which browsers your visitors are using.
Filter the reports by a date range
You'll have complete flexibility when viewing your analytics data. By default, you'll see insights from the "Last 28 days" when you first load the page. However, you can easily change this by selecting from predefined options like "Today", "Last 7 days", "Last 6 months", or setting a "Custom Date".
When selecting the "Custom Date" range option, simply enter your desired start and end dates, then click "Apply" to view the data for that specific period.
Download a Report
Each report includes a "Download" button, allowing you to export the data. This will provide a zip file containing an Excel spreadsheet for each widget within the report.
To download a report, select the Green "Download Report" button to the right of the report filter:
A zip file will download to your device that contains a separate excel file for each of the widgets on the report.
Frequently Asked Questions
"Can I download other reports?"
We've designed our analytics reports to align with NHS guidance, providing you with four key overviews.
If you require more in-depth or alternative analytics, you will need to deactivate our Analytics Tool and set up and manage your own Google Analytics account independently.
"Can I see previous data?"
Analytics data will only start being collected approximately 48 hours after you enable the feature. This means you won't be able to view historical data before the activation date. For example, if you enable our Analytics tool today, you won't see data from yesterday or last month.
The longer you keep the analytics feature active, the more comprehensive and useful your data will become as it continues to be collected.
"My website views are lower than expected. Is this normal?"
Analytics data is only collected when a user accepts your website's cookie banner. This means the numbers you see might be lower than your actual website traffic.
For instance, if your homepage has 300 views in the last 28 days, the true number of visitors is likely higher. However, as users have the right to decline cookies, their sessions won't be tracked, and their activity won't be included in your analytics.
Users can edit their cookies settings at any time via the "Cookies" page in the footer of your website.
"Can we use our Google Analytics code and your Website Analytics tool at the same time?"
We can only embed one tracking code on your website. Therefore, you'll need to decide whether to use Google Analytics or if our tool provides everything you require.
If you have any feedback on this feature or need assistance setting it up, please don't hesitate to contact us.
